Threadlift

A Thread Lift is a type of face lift that is often referred to as the “lunch hour lift”. This is down to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the procedure. A tiny entry will be made by the ear then fine threads are then advanced along pre-marked contours.

Your body then starts to produce new bundles of collagen which surround each thread and this in turn creates a subtle yet effective lift. The results differ for each person, but look very natural giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look. There is no scaring and recovery times are a lot less than those associated with traditional surgery.

WHAT IS A THREAD LIFT

A thread lift is a type of face lift that is often referred to as the “lunch hour lift”. This is down to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the procedure. A tiny entry will be made by the ear then fine threads are then advanced along pre-marked contours. Your body then starts to produce new bundles of collagen which surround each thread and this in turn creates a subtle yet effective lift. The results differ for each person, but look very natural giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look. There is no scaring and recovery times are a lot less than those associated with traditional surgery.

WHAT IS A PDO THREAD?

The threads used in the Thread Lift are made of soluble PDO (polydioxanone) which is a material that has been used in medicine for many years, mainly in surgery. However, research has shown that PDO relaxes muscles and tendons, and also stimulates the neocollagenesis process, which encourages the production of new collagen in the skin. PDO also stimulates the synthesis of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, both of which are vital for keeping the skin looking plump and youthful.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH PDO THREADS?

The thread lift can be used to enhance and improve the appearance of a sagging neck, sagging cheeks and jowls and droopy eyebrows. You can personalise your treatment to suit your exact needs and your doctor will also make recommendations for improvements. The procedure can be tailored to suit your exact needs to ensure you are totally happy with the results

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF PDO THREADS?

Thread lifts can cause minor side effects such as infection, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness and slight asymmetry. As long as your doctor is competent, any side effects should disappear.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST FOR?

A thread lift’s lasting power depends on the age of the patient at the time of procedure and how much sagging the thread lift has corrected. It should be noted that sagging will eventually  return over time, BUT many doctors report that the results last for about  2 years. To extend the results it is possible to have additional threads inserted and your doctor can advise you when this is required.

PAY AS YOU GO FACELIFT?

Threadlifts are often referred to as “pay as you go facelift” because patients can add threads over a period of 3-6 months, if budget does not allow for them to perform the entire procedure at once.

CAN I COMBINE TREATMENTS?

Threads can be combined with other aesthetic techniques eg botox, filler, peels etc. To enhance effect / further improve appearance. Please note, that whilst many patients opt for threads instead of botox/filler,( to achieve a more natural appearance,) it is not  a substitute for botox /filler, with many patients requiring a combination of treatments to achieve best outcome

WHO ARE BEST CANDIDATES FOR THREADS?

A thread lift is more suited to men and women between the ages of 35 and 70. The procedure is most effective on skin that has minimal sagging and offers the best results for cheeks, jowls, brows and the neck area. If you are looking for results that are more effective and long lasting than Botox and other fillers, then a thread lift is the ideal choice. If you are put off by traditional surgery or don’t want general anaesthetic then a thread lift is great as it is minimally invasive and can be carried out under local anaesthetic.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

A typical thread lift takes as little as one hour to perform, but the length will depend on the number of threads the doctor uses and the areas being treated.
